  • Deep mechanical scrubber cleaning to strip wax haze, plus hardwood floor refinishing & screen-and-recoat

How we do it · Precision board surgery

How we replace a locked board in the middle of your floor

Every tongue-and-groove floor is interlocked on all four sides. If someone tries to pry a damaged board straight up, they splinter the good boards next to it. Here is the 3-stage surgical method we use:

01

Depth-Stopped Center Relief Kerfs

We set our plunge saw to the exact plank thickness so we never score your subfloor, cutting two lengthwise relief trenches down the middle of the ruined board.

02

Inward Collapse & Clean Pocket Prep

With the center strip removed, the outer edges collapse inward away from the neighbor boards, leaving the neighbor's tongue 100% undamaged.

03

Bottom-Groove Lip Shave & Flush Drop-Lock

We shave only the bottom groove lip off the new plank, hook the new tongue in at 30 degrees, and drop the groove side straight down onto structural adhesive.

Floor care & maintenance guide

How to clean every type of floor without ruining the finish

The wrong cleaner or a high-heat steam mop can cloud urethane, swell wood seams, or warp vinyl click-lock joints. Follow our field-tested care guide for each flooring material we sell and install.

Cleaning and maintaining solid oak hardwood floors in Raleigh, NC 01 · Solid Hardwood Dry Pad + Wood Spray

Solid oak & hickory hardwood

Site-Finished & Prefinished
Daily / Weekly

Best vacuum for hardwood floors & pet hair: Use a suction-only canister or cordless vacuum with a soft horsehair bare-floor brush head (beater bar OFF) and a dry microfiber dust pad.

Best Mop

How to clean hardwood floors (flat microfiber spray mop): Mist an NWFA-approved pH-neutral wood cleaner (Bona Pro or Pallmann) onto a flat microfiber mop pad and wipe with the grain.

Never Use

No wet string mops, steam mops, vinegar, or oil soaps: Standing water cups oak edges, vinegar dulls satin urethane, and oil soaps prevent future recoating.

CRG Field Tip: Keep indoor humidity between 35%–55% year-round and schedule a light screen-and-recoat every 3–5 years to renew the protective topcoat.
Care and cleaning guide for wide-plank engineered hardwood gluedown floors 02 · Engineered Hardwood Low-Moisture Care

Wide-plank engineered wood

Factory UV-Cured Matte
Daily / Weekly

Sweep grit from micro-bevels: Wide planks have subtle V-groove bevels. Vacuum along the plank seams weekly so kitchen crumbs and grit don't collect.

Damp Clean

Atomized spray cleaner + dry buff: Use a low-moisture hardwood spray cleaner that evaporates within 30 seconds so moisture never sits in the end-joints.

Never Use

No abrasive green scrub pads, ammonia, or acrylic restorer: Factory aluminum-oxide finishes are ultra-hard; acrylic waxes create milky peeling patches.

CRG Field Tip: Put heavy-duty felt glides on every dining chair and barstool leg, and replace the felt pads once a year when grit embeds in them.
Cleaning and caring for waterproof rigid-core Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring in Raleigh, NC 03 · Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) pH-Neutral Vinyl Mist

Luxury vinyl plank & LVP stairs

SPC & WPC Rigid Core
Daily / Weekly

Dry microfiber dust or vacuum (beater bar OFF): Pick up grit and pet hair before damp mopping so sand never grinds into the wear layer.

Damp Clean

Warm water + pH-neutral LVP cleaner: Mist lightly and mop with a flat microfiber pad. For textured grain, gently brush scuffs with a soft nylon pad.

Never Use

No steam mop on LVP or laminate floors: High-heat steam mops force vapor into click-lock seams and warp vinyl or laminate cores, while wax polish leaves a cloudy haze.

CRG Field Tip: Never place black rubber-backed mats on LVP — rubber antioxidants cause permanent yellow staining. Use woven or felt-backed mats instead.
Cleaning and spot-swapping residential carpet and commercial modular carpet tile 04 · Carpet & Carpet Tile Blot & Modular Swap

Carpet & modular carpet tile

Residential & Commercial
Daily / Weekly

CRI-approved vacuuming 2–3x weekly: Slow, overlapping passes pull dry soil out before shoes mat it into the yarn base. Use suction-only on loop pile.

Spill Care

Blot inward — never rub in circles: Press a clean white cotton towel onto spills from the outer edge inward, apply a neutral enzymatic spotter, and blot with cool water.

Never Use

No soapy rental machines or bleach spotters: Unrinsed detergent leaves a sticky film that attracts dirt twice as fast right where you cleaned.

CRG Field Tip: With modular carpet tile, if one 24"×24" tile gets permanently ruined by ink or pet stains, lift just that tile and pop in a fresh spare in 60 seconds.

Floor repair & maintenance FAQ

Common questions about floor repairs in Raleigh

Have a photo of a damaged board, gap, or stair nose? Text it to (984) 212-1721 or attach your details below for a fast assessment.

Can you replace just a few damaged boards without refinishing the whole house?

Yes. If you have leftover boards from your original install—or if we match your prefinished oak, hickory, or LVP profile—we extract only the damaged planks and lock in the replacements without sanding the entire room.

Do you fix LVP planks that are unclicking or lifting in the middle of the room?

Yes. We perform mid-floor LVP plank replacements, re-engineer pinched doorway transitions so the floating floor can breathe, and inject or feather-level hollow subfloor spots.

What is included in your floor maintenance services?

We provide ongoing residential and commercial floor maintenance across Raleigh and Wake County: deep scrubber cleaning to remove acrylic polish buildup, hardwood buff-and-recoat wear-layer renewal, stair nosing re-fastening, shoemold caulking/touch-up, and modular carpet tile replacements.

How fast can I get a floor repair quote in Raleigh?

Fastest way: text a quick photo of the damaged area and your rough location to Carlos at (984) 212-1721, or fill out the form below. We'll tell you straight what caused the issue and how we'll fix it.

Why shouldn't I use a steam mop, vinegar, or acrylic polish on my floors?

High-heat steam forces moisture into hardwood end-joints and deforms LVP locking tongues, vinegar dulls satin polyurethane, and acrylic "shine" products leave a cloudy film that peels over time. See our Floor Cleaning Guide by Material ↑

How do you fix squeaky floors in a Raleigh home?

Squeaks happen when wood subfloor sheathing rubs against loosened nails or joists, or when floating planks bridge a dip. We fix squeaky floors by securing the subfloor into the joists, injecting structural subfloor adhesive, and feather-leveling hollow dips.

Can you match existing Bruce hardwood floors, Shaw floors, or older oak boards for a repair?

Yes. Whether your home has prefinished Bruce hardwood floors, Shaw LVP or engineered planks, or traditional 2-1/4" and 3-1/4" red or white oak, we source matching widths, bevel profiles, and sheen levels so your board replacement blends in.
